A Safe And Effective Waterjet - Saw Cutting Robot Application for Natural Stone Industry

Saw Robot is a novel planar surface cutting system for natural stone (e.g. granite, marble, Silestone®) countertop industry integrating a saw blade and a waterjet. Saw Robot makes the most of the both cutting methods. The fast saw blade is used to cut all long straight seams. The re-entrant corners, arcs, circles, ellipses and splines, which can not be cut using saw, are automatically cut by waterjet. At salient corners waterjet cutting is optional to save material.

Fast And Easy Programming And Controlling of The Cutting Cell

The Saw Robot uses Stone Path software for programming and Robot UI for running the cutting programs and for controlling and monitoring the entire cell. All programming is done in the office.

The programming software automatically compensates the width difference between saw and waterjet seams producing thus invariably smooth shear edges.

Safe And Uninterrupted Production With Rotating Table

A rotating cutting table ensures both uninterrupted production and safe co-operation between a robot and a human operator. The cutting robot is completely and safely isolated into its own closed cell. As the operator unloads finished pieces and uploads a new slab on one side the robot cuts another slab on another side of the table. The switching between the sides is made by rotating the table 180 degrees under a safety fence.

A Tilting Loading Area Protects New Slab From Breaking And Keeps The Table Clean

The operator side of the table arises 85 degrees up. At the upper position the cutting area is easily cleaned and a new slab may be moved from a space saving A-frame on the loading area. Finally the loaded surface is smoothly let down to the lateral cutting alignment.

High Seam Quality Using Automatic Blade Wear Measuring System

Automatic saw blade wear measuring system measures the saw blade at the end of every cutting program using sharp laser beam. All measures are saved and stored into database. The results are automatically used in the program generation to compensate the wear and thus to maintain steady seam quality through out the blade lifetime. With the stored values it is also possible to control the blade costs per seam inch.
